Sustainability and Responsibility
For 30 years our company has been pushing the boundaries of hat making. Every day we are taking steps to make our hats more durable, sustainable and socially responsible - so we feel good making them and you feel great wearing them!
100% of styles with DWR (durable water repellent) are PFAS-free, which means they are freee from potentially harmful chemicals found in conventional water-resistant and waterproof products.
68% of our styles use bluesign® materials. bluesign® certified materials ensure that at every step in the supply chain—from chemical formulation to finished product—chemicals of concern are kept out of the process.
42% of styles use recycled materials*. Our team is actively working to increase our assortment of sustainability attributes in our product offerings, prioritising recycled materials. As a company, we're focused on reducing our carbon footprint by sourcing lower impact materials and breathing a second life cycle into recycled fibres. *Calculated from all styles in our Spring 2024 range.
We stand behind our hats for as long as you stand under them. Materials and workmanship are guaranteed for life.
ETHICAL TREATMENT OF PEOPLE
Sunday Afternoons is commited to a safe, fair and healthy working environmentfor its employees and partner organisations. In addition to environmental responsibility in our supply chain, 100% of our finished-goods manufacturers have completed third party audits for fair and safe labour practices.
Climate Neutral Certified
In 2023, we're proud to be celebrating our third year of being Climate Neutral Certified. Climate Neutral Certification supports our heartfelt commitment to decrease our carbon footprint across our business.
Measuring our footprint
We measured our carbon footprint by calculating the greenhouse gas emissions it takes to manufacture, warehouse and ship our products worldwide, as well as to carry out our entire operations.
Reducing our footprint
We are commited to reduce our value chain carbon emissions and annually document plans and progress towards emissions reductions. For example, by 2021 we had diverted 5.5 million bags from landfill by eliminating individual polybags from our packaging.
Our goal is to reduce our entire carbon footprint by 30% by 2030.
