I bought this hat to participate in a 54mile charity hike in summer. Whilst I wouldn't say this is a particularly fashionable hat, as a hat for keeping cool and protecting my head and neck from the sun with a large pack on, it was excellent. My scalp was protected, my neck was shielded pretty well (maybe the rear flap could be a little longer) and the sun never troubled my face either. When the sun started setting it folded up and stowed into bag simple and compact. Lots of the other hikers also noted how effective it looked). Would highly recommend to anyone going on sunny walks or spending a long time out and about in the sun.
